William Erik Kramer is a retired American football quarterback with experience in both the National Football League and the Canadian Football League. Born on November 6, 1964, he attended John Burroughs High School in Burbank, California, before transferring to North Carolina State University after playing as a quarterback at Pierce College. Kramer was not selected in the NFL draft but gained playing time in 1987 when he was a replacement player for the Atlanta Falcons during the NFL players strike. He also spent part of his career with the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL. Kramer returned to the NFL in 1991 and became a surprise starting quarterback for the Detroit Lions following injuries to Rodney Peete. During his tenure with the Lions, he played in 13 games, leading the team to a 12–4 record, their first playoff victory since 1957, and reaching the NFC Championship Game. His professional football career is noted for his contributions to team success and his perseverance through various leagues and roles.
