Eric Demetric Dickerson is a retired professional football player who played as a running back for 11 seasons in the National Football League. He played college football for the SMU Mustangs, where he earned unanimous All-American honors in 1982. Selected second overall in the 1983 NFL draft by the Los Angeles Rams, Dickerson also played for the Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Raiders, and Atlanta Falcons during his professional career. He accumulated over 13,000 rushing yards and set the NFL's single-season rushing record with 2,105 yards in 1984. Known for his exceptional talent, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest running backs of all time. Dickerson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999 and was named to the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team in 2019. He is recognized for using prescription goggles throughout his career because of myopia.
