Eric Brakey: podcast appearances and interviews

Eric Brakey, born on August 8, 1988, is an American politician and the executive director of the Free State Project. He has served as a Maine state senator during two separate periods, from 2014 to 2018 and again from 2022 to 2024. Brakey is a libertarian member of the Republican Party and has been active in political campaigns and leadership roles in Maine. He was elected to represent district 20, which includes Auburn, New Gloucester, Poland, Minot, and Mechanic Falls, in 2014 and was re-elected in 2016. During his tenure in the Maine State Senate, he served as chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. Brakey's political involvement includes serving as Maine state director for Ron Paul’s 2012 presidential campaign and leading supporters to secure a majority of Maine delegate seats at the Republican National Convention. He also led the Defense of Liberty PAC, a libertarian political action committee in Maine. Brakey was the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in 2018, finishing third in a three-way race, and sought the Republican nomination for Maine's 2nd congressional district in 2020, where he placed third. That year, he was also chosen as Maine's Republican candidate for Secretary of State. After returning to the Maine State Senate in 2022 by defeating Bettyann Sheats, he resigned in November 2024 to move to New Hampshire.
