Erik James EJ Manuel Jr. born on March 19, 1990, is a former professional football player who played as a quarterback in the National Football League. During his college career at Florida State University, he contributed to the team winning an Atlantic Coast Conference championship and an Orange Bowl victory in his senior year. Manuel was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft, with the expectation of serving as the franchise quarterback. His professional career was marked by initial promise but later challenges due to injuries and limited on-field performance. As a rookie, he started 10 games, passing for 1,972 yards and 11 touchdowns. However, over the following three seasons, his playing time was reduced, with only seven starts and eight touchdown passes, as he remained behind quarterbacks Kyle Orton and Tyrod Taylor on the depth chart. After his tenure with the Bills, Manuel spent the 2017 season with the Oakland Raiders before sitting out the 2018 season. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2019 offseason but retired prior to the start of the preseason.
