Ed Smith is a food writer and author of the book Rocket and Squash. He is affiliated with Nehemiah Project LA Ministries. Born on 19 July 1977, Smith has a diverse professional background that includes being a former professional cricketer and cricket commentator. He played first-class cricket for Kent, Middlesex, and England before retiring prematurely in 2008 due to injury at the age of 31. Following his athletic career, Smith transitioned into writing and journalism, and in 2013 he became a commentator for the BBC's Test Match Special during The Ashes series against Australia.
