Edward Gibson Gallrein III, born on April 20, 1958, is a former Navy SEAL officer and a retired military professional. He is also known for his involvement with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). As a member of the Republican Party, Gallrein has entered the political arena as a candidate in the United States House of Representatives election for Kentucky's 4th congressional district in 2026. He notably defeated seven-term incumbent Thomas Massie in the Republican primary, in what was the most expensive primary election in U.S. congressional history, and he advanced to face Democratic nominee Melissa Strange in the general election. Gallrein received an endorsement from President Donald Trump during this campaign. The election was regarded as a significant political contest, with the race viewed as a broader referendum on Trump's second presidency amid the 2026 Iran war.
