Paul Anthony Walsh, born on October 1, 1962, is an English former professional footballer who now works as a television pundit. Throughout his 17-year career in the English Football League and Premier League, he was known for being a pacey and skillful forward, scoring a total of 127 goals in 521 league appearances. He began his career at Charlton Athletic, debuting for the first team at age 16 in September 1979. Walsh contributed to Charlton's promotion from the Third Division in the 1980-81 season and was selected for the PFA Team of the Year in 1981-82. In July 1982, he transferred to Luton Town for £400,000, moving from the Second Division to the First Division. His performances earned him the PFA Young Player of the Year award in 1984. In May 1984, he transferred to Liverpool for £700,000, where he was named in the PFA Team of the Year in his second season and helped the club secure the league title and the Football League Super Cup. Despite injury struggles, he played in several finals with Liverpool, including the 1984 European Cup and the 1986 league and FA Cup double winners. Walsh later played for Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth, and Manchester City, with notable achievements including winning the 1991 FA Cup Final with Spurs and being voted Player of the Season at Portsmouth in 1992-93. He returned to Portsmouth in 1995 before retiring in 1996 due to cruciate ligament injury. Post-retirement, Walsh became a football pundit and has been a regular on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday. He earned five caps with England, scoring one goal.
