Derek Thomas: podcast appearances and interviews

Derek W. H. Thomas is a Welsh Reformed theologian, author, and pastor with an extensive career in teaching, writing, and editorial work. He served as the senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Columbia in South Carolina until his retirement in December 2023 and currently holds the position of interim preacher at First Presbyterian Church in Yazoo City, Mississippi. Additionally, Thomas is a distinguished visiting professor of systematic and historical theology at Reformed Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia. Originally from Wales, he completed his ministerial training at Reformed Theological Seminary in 1978 and earned a PhD from the University of Wales, Lampeter, with a focus on Calvin's preaching on the Book of Job. He was ordained into the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ireland and served as a pastor at Stranmillis Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Belfast for 17 years. In 1996, he moved to the United States to serve as the minister of teaching at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Mississippi, and later transitioned to Columbia, South Carolina, where he became associate pastor and then senior pastor. Throughout his career, Thomas has authored and edited over 27 books, including contributions to biblical commentaries published by Banner of Truth Trust and Evangelical Press. In 2004, he took on the role of editorial director for The Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals and became editor of its e-zine, Reformation 21.
