Barry Marshall: podcast appearances and interviews

Barry James Marshall is an Australian physician and Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine. He is a Professor of Clinical Microbiology and Co-Director of the Marshall Centre at the University of Western Australia. Marshall is renowned for his research demonstrating that the bacterium Helicobacter pylori plays a significant role in causing many peptic ulcers. His work challenged the prevailing medical doctrine of the time, which attributed ulcers primarily to stress, spicy foods, and excess acid. The discovery by Marshall and Robin Warren has led to a better understanding of the link between Helicobacter pylori infection and stomach cancer. Marshall is also noted for his approach to testing medical hypotheses through self-administration, following a tradition exemplified by Jonas Salk.
