Alex Hanna: podcast appearances and interviews

Alex Hanna is a sociologist and the director of research at the Distributed AI Research Institute. Her work primarily focuses on the data used in new computational technologies and how this data impacts racial biases related to social class, race, and gender. Hanna also explores the role of data in social movements within the United States and Canada. In addition to her research, she co-hosts the podcast Mystery AI Hype Theater 3000 with linguist Emily M. Bender. She is the co-author of The AI Con: How to Fight Big Tech's Hype and Create the Future We Want. Hanna serves as a Senior Fellow at the Center for Applied Transgender Studies and is a member of the advisory board for the Human Rights Data Analysis Group.
