Dorothea Puente: podcast appearances and interviews

Dorothea Helen Puente was an American serial killer and financial fraudster active in Sacramento, California, between 1982 and 1988. Operating as a landlady, she targeted elderly and mentally disabled individuals, inviting them to stay at her boarding house. Puente murdered her tenants primarily by poisoning before burying their bodies around the residence and cashing their Social Security checks. Her criminal activities came to light in 1988 when authorities uncovered the bodies during an investigation into the disappearance of one of her victims. In 1993, Puente was tried on nine first-degree murder charges; however, the jury convicted her of only three charges, often citing a deadlock regarding the remaining six. She received a life sentence without the possibility of parole and was incarcerated at the Central California Women's Facility until her death in 2011.
