Donna Adrian Gaines, known professionally as Donna Summer, was an American singer and songwriter recognized for her prominence during the disco era of the 1970s. Born and raised in Boston, she Dropped out of high school before starting her career as the lead singer of the blues rock band Crow and relocating to New York City. Her international career gained momentum when she joined the German production of the musical Hair in Munich, where she met music producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte. In 1974, she released her first album, Lady of the Night, for the European market. The release of her disco anthem Love to Love You Baby in 1975 led to a contract with Casablanca Records, with the single reaching the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1976. Her early albums including Love to Love You Baby, A Love Trilogy, and Four Seasons of Love achieved gold status in the United States, earning her the nickname
