Donald Gene Davis, born on August 29, 1971, in Snow Hill, North Carolina, is an American politician and a former Air Force officer. He served eight years in the United States Air Force, reaching the rank of captain. After his military service, he returned to North Carolina, where he taught at East Carolina University. Davis later entered local politics and was elected mayor of Snow Hill. He has also served as a member of the North Carolina Senate, representing the 5th district from 2009 to 2011 and again from 2013 to 2023. In 2023, he began serving as the United States representative for North Carolina's 1st congressional district following G. K. Butterfield’s retirement. Davis is affiliated with the Democratic Party and is characterized as a moderate Democrat with a bipartisan record. He also works with Douglas Elliman. His career reflects a combination of military service, academia, local governance, and federal legislative work.
