Domhnall Gleeson is an Irish actor, screenwriter, and producer born on 12 May 1983. He is the son of actor Brendan Gleeson and studied media arts at the Dublin Institute of Technology. Gleeson began his career by directing and writing short films and received a Tony Award nomination in 2006 for his role in the Broadway production The Lieutenant of Inishmore. He appeared in supporting roles such as in Never Let Me Go (2010) and gained wider recognition for portraying Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter film series from 2010 to 2011.

His later career includes starring roles in the period drama Anna Karenina (2012), the romantic comedy About Time (2013), and the Black Mirror episode Be Right Back (2013). He also appeared in the war drama Unbroken (2014) and films such as Ex Machina (2014), Brooklyn (2015), The Revenant (2015), and Peter Rabbit (2018). Gleeson is known for his role as General Armitage Hux in the Star Wars sequel trilogy from 2015 to 2019. In 2020, he played a main role in the HBO series Run. He was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2023 for his role in the limited series The Patient and starred in the political miniseries White House Plumbers. In 2025, he took the lead in the spinoff series The Paper. Gleeson also voiced the lead in Retirement Plan, a short film that was nominated for an Academy Award in 2026.
