Dietrich Bonhoeffer: podcast appearances and interviews

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor and neo-orthodox theologian known for his role as an anti-Nazi dissident. As a founding member of the Confessing Church, he was actively involved in resisting the Nazi regime and expressed vocal opposition to policies such as the euthanasia program and the persecution of Jews. His theological contributions, particularly his 1937 book The Cost of Discipleship, have become influential in Christian thought. Bonhoeffer's writings explore Christianity's engagement with the secular world and are regarded as modern classics.

In addition to his theological work, Bonhoeffer was committed to resisting totalitarianism. He was arrested by the Gestapo in April 1943 and imprisoned first at Tegel Prison for approximately a year and a half, and later transferred to Flossenbürg concentration camp. His resistance extended to his alleged involvement with the 20 July plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Following his arrest, he was tried alongside other conspirators including former members of the German Military Intelligence Office. Bonhoeffer was executed by hanging on 9 April 1945 during the final days of the Nazi regime.
