Dick Harpootlian: podcast appearances and interviews

Richard A. Harpootlian, born January 23, 1949, is an American attorney and politician. He served as a member of the South Carolina Senate representing the 20th district from 2018 to 2024. Harpootlian has been actively involved in South Carolina politics, including serving as chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party from 1998 to 2003 and again from 2011 to 2013. He also held the position of solicitor for the Fifth Judicial Circuit of South Carolina from 1991 until 1995. In his legislative role, Harpootlian was known for his criticism of the state's budgetary practices and served on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Beyond his public service, he is an accomplished attorney with a private practice. Harpootlian has served as a lead attorney in high-profile cases, including the defense of Alex Murdaugh in his murder trial, as well as handling appeals and motions for a new trial.
