Derek Walsh Webb, born on May 27, 1974, is an American singer-songwriter known for his work in independent and Christian music. He first gained prominence as a member of the band Caedmon's Call, based in Houston, Texas. During his tenure with the band, Webb contributed to a nearly one million record sales, received ten nominations for the GMA Dove Award, and secured three Dove Awards, along with six No. 1 hits on Christian radio. In 2003, Webb left Caedmon's Call to focus on a solo career. Since then, he has released seven studio albums, including an instrumental album, along with a live album, two compilations, two covers projects, two DVDs, and two EPs created with his then-wife Sandra McCracken. While his solo work has generally been less commercially successful than his work with Caedmon's Call, it has allowed Webb greater artistic freedom and the opportunity to shape his music according to his personal vision. Beyond his music career, Webb is also known for engaging in various pursuits, and as of the latest available information, he has been a candidate for Washington County Treasurer.
