Derek William Rapp, known professionally as Derek Martin, was an English actor with a career spanning over five decades. He initially started in the entertainment industry as a stuntman before transitioning into acting. Throughout his career, he appeared in a variety of British television roles, including starring roles in crime dramas such as Law & Order in 1978 and King and Castle from 1985 to 1988. Martin is best known for his portrayal of Charlie Slater on the BBC soap opera EastEnders, a role he played from 2000 to 2011. He made brief returns to the show in 2013 and 2016, maintaining a significant presence on British television. In addition to his acting career, he was affiliated with Martin Brothers Winery.
