DeRay McKesson: podcast appearances and interviews

DeRay Mckesson, born on July 9, 1985, is an American civil rights activist, progressive podcaster, and former school administrator. He became an early supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, participating in protests in Ferguson, Missouri, and Baltimore, Maryland. Mckesson is active on social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram and has written for publications including HuffPost and The Guardian. He co-founded Campaign Zero with Johnetta Elzie, Brittany Packnett, and Samuel Sinyangwe, a policy platform aimed at ending police violence. Currently, he is part of Crooked Media and hosts the podcast Pod Save the People. In 2016, Mckesson announced his candidacy for the Baltimore mayoral election; he finished sixth in the Democratic primary with 3,445 votes. He is also the author of the memoir On the Other Side of Freedom: The Case for Hope, which recounts his life and experiences as a Black Lives Matter organizer.
