Dennis Kucinich: podcast appearances and interviews

Dennis John Kucinich is an American politician who served as a U.S. Representative from Ohio's 10th congressional district from 1997 to 2013. He previously served as mayor of Cleveland from 1977 to 1979, narrowly surviving a recall election and successfully opposing a proposal to sell the municipal electric utility. Known for his progressive political stance, Kucinich was considered one of the most liberal members of Congress during his tenure. He ran for president in the Democratic primaries of 2004 and 2008, advocating against the Iraq War, supporting single-payer health care, calling for the impeachment of then-Vice President Dick Cheney, and proposing the creation of a Department of Peace. Although he did not win any primary contests, he was noted for being a staunch anti-war candidate and was among the last opponents to drop out of the 2004 race. During his final congressional terms, Kucinich publicly criticized President Barack Obama and argued for impeachment following the 2011 military intervention in Libya. Following redistricting after the 2010 census, Kucinich ran for re-election in Ohio’s newly-drawn 9th district but was defeated in the Democratic primary by Marcy Kaptur. After leaving Congress in 2013, he became a contributor on the Fox News Channel, appearing on programs such as The O'Reilly Factor. Kucinich has also run unsuccessfully for governor of Ohio and Cleveland mayor and in 2024 ran as an independent candidate for Ohio’s 7th congressional district, finishing third with 12 percent of the vote.
