Dennis Hallum, known professionally as Dennis Hopeless, is an American comic book writer from Kansas City, Missouri. He has contributed to works published by Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, Boom! Studios, Arcana Studio, and Oni Press. Hallum is recognized for creating multiple series that feature teenage superheroes and often explore themes related to the challenges of growing up. His writing is notable for including female perspectives, which has garnered critical praise. After gaining success with two creator-owned comics, he began working for Marvel in 2011. His notable projects include writing two limited series as part of Marvel's Secret Wars event in 2015. In 2016, Hallum started scripting Marvel's relaunched ongoing series All-New X-Men and resumed duties on the sixth volume of Marvel's Spider-Woman series. His work on Spider-Woman received positive reviews, with critics praising the series for realistically depicting motherhood. In 2017, Marvel published the first ongoing Jean Grey comic, with Hallum and artist Victor Ibanez responsible for its creation.
