Debra Lynn Messing, born on August 15, 1968, is an American actress. She graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and has appeared in various television series and films. Messing's notable roles include her portrayal of Grace Adler, an interior designer, on the NBC sitcom Will & Grace. She starred in the series from 1998 to 2006 and returned for a three-season revival from 2017 to 2020. Her performance as Grace garnered her seven Golden Globe Award nominations, five Primetime Emmy Award nominations, and she won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2003. She also starred as Molly Kagan in the TV miniseries The Starter Wife and its subsequent series from 2007 to 2008, earning two Golden Globe nominations, a Primetime Emmy nomination, and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. Messing's other television work includes roles as Broadway playwright Julia Houston in Smash and homicide detective Laura Diamond in The Mysteries of Laura.
