David J. Sirota, born on November 2, 1975, is the founder and editor-in-chief of The Lever, an investigative news outlet dedicated to exposing corporate corruption and its impact on American society. His career spans politics, media, and journalism, with roles including campaign manager, fundraiser, spokesperson, strategist, and consultant for various left-leaning Democratic candidates and officeholders. Sirota has worked twice for Bernie Sanders, both during his time in the U.S. House of Representatives and during Sanders' 2020 presidential campaign. He has also been a staff member of the Center for American Progress, a liberal research and advocacy organization. In addition to his political work, Sirota has contributed as a columnist for Guardian US, served as editor-at-large for Jacobin, and was senior investigations editor at The International Business Times.
