David Payne: podcast appearances and interviews

David Payne, born on July 16, 1968, is an American television meteorologist and storm chaser. He currently serves as the chief meteorologist at KWTV-DT, a CBS affiliate in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Payne has Had a long-standing career in broadcast meteorology, beginning his work at Oklahoma City NBC affiliate KFOR-TV in 1993. During his tenure there, which lasted until 2012, he provided forecasts for weekday morning and Monday and Tuesday noon newscasts. He also contributed to KFOR's severe weather coverage through storm chasing activities and performed duties for the station's morning newscast Rise and Shine on sister station KAUT-TV. In January 2013, Payne joined KWTV as the 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. meteorologist, succeeding Gary England as the station's chief meteorologist on August 29, 2013, a role that expanded to include the 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. newscasts. Payne is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society and has received the NWA's Broadcasting Seal of Approval. He resides in Edmond, Oklahoma, with his wife Julie and their daughter.
