David Owen: podcast appearances and interviews

David Anthony Llewellyn Owen, Baron Owen, is a British physician and former politician. He is known for serving as Foreign Secretary in the Labour government of James Callaghan from 1977 to 1979. During his political career, he was a Member of Parliament for 26 years, from 1966 to 1992, and played a significant role in the founding of the Social Democratic Party in 1981 as one of the Gang of Four. He led the SDP from 1983 to 1987 and later continued to lead the continuing SDP from 1988 to 1990. Owen was appointed as a life peer in 1992 and sat in the House of Lords as a crossbencher until March 2014, subsequently identifying as an independent social democrat until his retirement in 2024. Throughout his career, Owen held and resigned from several senior positions, including disputes over policies within the Labour Party and leadership roles within the SDP. He has been involved in significant political movements and leadership roles, influencing the political landscape in the United Kingdom. Currently, he is a founding member of the Placenta Accreta Spectrum Team at Pure Industrial, contributing to healthcare initiatives in that capacity.
