David Miles: podcast appearances and interviews

David Kenneth Miles is a British economist born in Swansea in 1959. He has dedicated his career to teaching, business, and public service in London. Currently, he is a professor of Financial Economics at Imperial College London. Miles has also played significant roles in financial policy and analysis, including his membership on the Budget Responsibility Committee at the Office for Budget Responsibility, a position he assumed in January 2022. Prior to this, he was appointed to the main board of the Central Bank of Ireland in December 2020.

His experience includes serving as Chief UK Economist at Morgan Stanley from October 2004 to May 2009. He has an academic background with tenure at Birkbeck College in the late 1980s and has worked at Merrill Lynch in the early 1990s. Miles was a member of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee, which sets interest rates, from May 2009 to June 2012, and again from June 2012 to August 2015. His work as an economist has focused on the interaction between financial markets and the broader economy. Throughout his career, Miles has contributed to discussions on economic and financial stability at national and international levels.
