David Lloyd: podcast appearances and interviews

David Lloyd, born on 18 March 1947, is an English former cricketer, umpire, coach, and commentator. He played county cricket for Lancashire County Cricket Club and participated in Test and One Day International matches for the English cricket team. Renowned in the cricketing world as Bumble due to the similarity between his facial profile and characters from Michael Bentine's children's television programmes, Lloyd was a left-handed batsman and left-arm spin bowler. Over his cricketing career, he played nine Tests, with a highest score of 214 not out, and eight One Day International matches. In first-class cricket, he was a successful all-rounder, scoring more than 19,000 runs and claiming 237 wickets. He captained Lancashire from 1973 to 1977. After retiring as a player, Lloyd became a first-class umpire and later a cricket coach for Lancashire and England, resigning from the coaching role following the 1999 Cricket World Cup. Subsequently, he established himself as a prominent cricket commentator for Test Match Special and Sky Sports. Lloyd is also an author, journalist, and columnist. In December 2021, he announced his retirement from full-time commentary. In 2022, he signed a contract with Lancashire's in-house channel LancsTV to provide commentary on various non-televised matches, including Vitality Blast home games and select County Championship fixtures.
