David Vaughan Icke is an English conspiracy theorist, author, and former semi-professional footballer. He was born on 29 April 1952. Initially aspiring to become a professional football goalkeeper, he retired at age 21 due to rheumatoid arthritis and later became a sports journalist. In 1981, he joined the BBC as a sports broadcaster, a position he held until 1990 when his contract was terminated over his outspoken opposition to the Community Charge.
