David Hyde Pierce: podcast appearances and interviews

David Hyde Pierce, born David Pierce on April 3, 1959, is an American actor known for his portrayal of psychiatrist Niles Crane on the NBC sitcom Frasier, which aired from 1993 to 2004. For this role, he received four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. He also received five Golden Globe Awards nominations for Best Supporting Actor for his performance on the show. Pierce's talents extend to stage acting, where he won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role of Lt. Frank Cioffi in the Broadway musical Curtains in 2007. In addition to his work on television and stage, he has appeared in films such as Crossing Delancey, The Fisher King, Sleepless in Seattle, Wolf, Nixon, Down with Love, and The Perfect Host. Pierce has lent his voice to animated films including Disney Pixar's A Bug's Life, Osmosis Jones, and Treasure Planet. He portrayed Henry Newman in the comedy Wet Hot American Summer and reprised this role in two Netflix series in 2014 and 2017. His television work includes starring roles in NBC's The Powers That Be, CBS's The Good Wife, ABC's When We Rise, and HBO Max's Julia. Pierce's Broadway performances include roles as Sir Robin in Monty Python's Spamalot, Vanya in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, and Horace Vandergelder in Hello, Dolly!, for which he earned Tony nominations. He made his Broadway directorial debut with It Shoulda Been You in 2015.
