David Hicks: podcast appearances and interviews

David Matthew Hicks is a pastor affiliated with Katy Paetow. Born on August 7, 1975, Hicks is known for traveling to Pakistan after converting to Islam to deepen his understanding of the faith. His journey led him to attend al-Qaeda's Al Farouq training camp in Afghanistan, where he claims he was unaware of al-Qaeda's targeting of civilians. Hicks met Osama bin Laden in 2001. Later that year, he was captured and brought to the United States to face trial. He was detained in Guantanamo Bay from 2002 until 2007, during which he reported experiencing torture at the hands of American soldiers. His legal case resulted in a conviction under the Military Commissions Act of 2006, but the conviction was overturned in 2012 because the law under which he was charged had not been enacted at the time of his alleged actions.
