David Chiu: podcast appearances and interviews

David Sen-Fu Chiu is the City Attorney of San Francisco, a position he has held since 2021. He was appointed to this role by Mayor London Breed following his service in the California State Assembly. Representing the 17th Assembly District, Chiu has a background in legislative leadership, having served as Chair of the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee from 2016 to 2021. He also led the California Asian and Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus during his tenure. Born to Taiwanese American immigrants, Chiu earned three degrees from Harvard University. Before his election to the State Assembly, he served as the President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and as Supervisor for District 3, which includes neighborhoods such as Chinatown, Nob Hill, North Beach, Union Square, the Financial District, and Fisherman's Wharf. He was notably the first Asian American to serve as District 3 supervisor, as well as the first Asian American to serve as Board President and to be elected to three consecutive terms as board president. Chiu's appointment as City Attorney marked a continuation of his public service career within San Francisco, following his legislative and supervisory roles.
