David Barry: podcast appearances and interviews

David Barry, born Meurig Wyn Jones on April 30, 1943, is the President and CEO of Pursuit. Although he is primarily known for his career as an actor and novelist, his work has spanned a variety of fields. Barry gained recognition for his role as Frankie Abbott, a character characterized as a gum-chewing mother's boy who believed himself to be tough, in the London Weekend Television sitcom Please Sir! and its spin-off series The Fenn Street Gang. He also appeared in two television spin-off movies titled Please Sir! and George and Mildred. In addition to acting, Barry has written scripts, including his first broadcast script for The Fenn Street Gang, and authored numerous episodes for Thames TV's Keep it in the Family. In 2016, he reprised his role as Frankie Abbott in his own play A Day in the Lives of Frankie Abbott and later appeared in horror comedy short films such as Frankula in 2017 and Bad Friday in 2018. As a novelist, Barry has published several works including the police thriller Each Man Kills, set in Swansea, in 2002, followed by Willie the Actor in 2008. He also authored an autobiography called Flashback and a children's book titled The Ice Cream Time Machine. Barry resides in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, and his multifaceted career reflects his involvement in acting, writing, and leadership within Pursuit.
