Dave Mackey: podcast appearances and interviews

Dave Mackey, born on November 22, 1969, is an American ultra runner and adventure racer based in Boulder, Colorado. Known as the old school master, he has established course records at numerous significant national ultra-distance trail running races and has competed extensively in adventure racing both nationally and internationally. Mackey has achieved notable success in ultrarunning, winning the Montrail Cup in 2004 and again in 2011, as well as earning the title of Ultrarunning Magazine North American Ultrarunner of the Year in 2011. He was also the runner-up for this award in 2004. Additionally, Mackey has been named USA Track and Field Ultrarunner of the Year in 2004 and 2005. His accomplishments include winning multiple USATF national trail running titles across three distances: 50K, 50 miles, and 100 kilometers. He set a record of six hours, fifty-nine minutes, and fifty-seven seconds for the rim-to-rim-to-rim run across the Grand Canyon, a record since surpassed by Jim Walmsley. Aside from ultrarunning, Mackey holds speed climbing records in the Boulder area, notably for climbing and descending the Third Flatiron in the shortest round-trip time from Chautauqua Park. Alongside his athletic pursuits, he works as a physician assistant in emergency medicine.
