David Allen Johnson, born on April 7, 1963, is an accomplished athlete and coach with a distinguished career in sports and education. He is recognized as a member of the Washington State Coaches Hall of Fame and the ABCA Hall of Fame. Johnson's athletic achievements include winning a bronze medal in the decathlon at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. A native of Montana, he grew up in Missoula and Corvallis, Oregon. Throughout his competitive career, he was featured in Reebok's 'Dan & Dave' advertising campaign alongside fellow decathlete Dan O'Brien. After retiring from athletics, Johnson transitioned into education and sports administration. He served as a school teacher and later became the athletic director at Corban University in Salem, Oregon, beginning in 2009. In June 2012, he accepted a position as Director with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Oregon and resigned from Corban in November of that year to focus more on his commitment to the organization. Currently, Johnson is involved in coaching pole vault and hurdles at South Salem High School. His diverse career reflects a sustained dedication to athletics, education, and faith-based initiatives.
