Daniel Richard McBride is an American actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He was born on December 29, 1976. McBride's career began with a supporting role in the romantic drama All the Real Girls in 2003, which was directed and written by his frequent collaborator David Gordon Green. His first starring role was in the film The Foot Fist Way in 2006. McBride gained mainstream recognition through comedy films such as Hot Rod in 2007, Pineapple Express in 2008, and Tropic Thunder also in 2008. He achieved a breakthrough with a lead role as Kenny Powers on the HBO series Eastbound & Down, which ran from 2009 to 2013 and was co-created with Jody Hill. During this period, he also starred in Land of the Lost and Up in the Air in 2009. Throughout the 2010s, McBride appeared in several comedy films including Your Highness, 30 Minutes or Less, This Is the End, and Aloha. He played Neal Gamby on HBO's Vice Principals from 2016 to 2017, which he also co-created. His voice acting includes roles in animated films such as Despicable Me, Kung Fu Panda 2, The Angry Birds Movie series, and Sausage Party. Other notable performances include dramatic roles in As I Lay Dying and the sci-fi horror Alien: Covenant. Additionally, he voiced Duane Earl in Grand Theft Auto V and created and starred in The Righteous Gemstones on HBO. Outside acting, McBride contributed as a writer to Blumhouse's Halloween trilogy and co-wrote The Exorcist: Believer. He served as an executive producer for the HBO series Telemarketers, for which he received an Emmy nomination.
