Danielle Keats Citron is an American legal scholar and a professor at the University of Virginia School of Law. She holds the position of Jefferson Scholars Foundation Schenck Distinguished Professor in Law, where she teaches courses on information privacy, free expression, and civil rights law. Citron is known for her work in privacy and online civil rights, and she is the author of books including The Fight for Privacy: Protecting Dignity, Identity, and Love in the Digital Age published in 2022 and Hate Crimes in Cyberspace published in 2014. She also serves as Vice President and Secretary of the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, an organization advocating for victims of online abuse and supporting related legislation. Prior to her current role, she taught at Boston University Law School as an Austin B. Fletcher Distinguished Professor of Law and previously held the Morton & Sophia Macht Professor of Law position at the University of Maryland School of Law.
