Daniel Kaluuya is an English actor known for his work in both screen and stage. His acting career began as a teenager in improvisational theatre, and he gained early recognition for his performance as Posh Kenneth in the television series Skins. He also co-wrote some episodes of the series. Kaluuya received praise for his leading role in the play Sucker Punch at the Royal Court Theatre in 2010. He became more widely known for his television roles in series such as Psychoville, The Fades, and an episode of Black Mirror titled Fifteen Million Merits. Additionally, he appeared in supporting roles in films including Johnny English Reborn, Kick-Ass 2, and Sicario. Kaluuya's breakthrough came in 2017 with his starring role in Jordan Peele's horror film Get Out, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He continued to build his reputation with roles in films such as Black Panther, Widows, Nope, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. His portrayal of Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah earned him the BAFTA and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Recognized for his influence, he was named among the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2021. Kaluuya has also expanded into directing, co-creating the drama The Kitchen, which was released in 2023.
