Dan Habib: podcast appearances and interviews

Dan Habib is an American documentary film director, producer, and cinematographer based in Concord, New Hampshire. He is known for creating award-winning films that focus on disability-related topics, including Who Cares About Kelsey?, Including Samuel, Intelligent Lives, and Restraint and Seclusion: Hear Our Stories. His documentaries have received Emmy nominations, been translated into 17 languages, and have been utilized worldwide to promote inclusive education and disability rights. Habib's most recent work, the documentary short My Disability Roadmap, was co-directed with his son Samuel Habib and premiered at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival in May 2022. It features interviews with prominent disability activists across the United States and addresses challenges experienced by the Habib family during their travels. The film also explores Samuel’s interest in dating as a disabled individual. Habib began his career as a photo editor for the Concord Monitor before engaging in disability rights activism. In 2014, he was appointed to the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities by the Obama administration. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards and honors, including the Justice for All Grassroots Award from the American Association of People with Disabilities and the Champion of Human and Civil Rights Award from the National Education Association (New Hampshire). His work aims to support inclusive education and advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities through compelling storytelling and community engagement.
