Damian Browne, born on 17 May 1980, is an Irish former professional rugby union player who later became an extreme adventurer. During his rugby career, he was capped by Ireland at the under-21 level and played for several clubs including Connacht, Northampton Saints, Brive, Leinster, and Oyonnax. Browne began his rugby journey with Galwegians before securing a contract with Connacht in 2001. He signed with Northampton Saints in April 2004 and later joined Leinster in May 2011, alongside Fionn Carr. His younger brother, Andrew Browne, also played for Connacht. Beyond his rugby career, Damian Browne distinguished himself through record-breaking ocean pursuits. He was the first person to row from New York City to Galway, completing the journey on 4 October 2022 after 112 days at sea. In 2017, he successfully completed the Atlantic Challenge solo, spending 63 days, six hours, and 25 minutes at sea.
