Craig Randall Sawyer, born October 5, 1963, is a Marine veteran and a former Navy SEAL, specializing as a sniper and combat instructor. He began his military career with the U.S. Marine Corps in 1983 before transferring to the U.S. Navy in 1986 to pursue a career in special operations. Sawyer completed Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training, graduating with BUD/S class 149 in 1988. He attended Basic Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia, and served at SEAL Team One until his deployment during the Gulf War. He later served with SEAL Team Six and became an expert in various military disciplines, including shooting, counter-terrorism, surveillance, climbing, criminal investigation, parachuting, and hand-to-hand combat. Sawyer participated in high-threat mobile security operations for the U.S. Department of State in Iraq from 2004 to 2005, where he was responsible for protecting U.S. dignitaries and personnel in high-risk areas. As the owner of Sawyer Health Solutions, he founded Tactical Insider to provide technical advice and training related to weapons and combat to films, actors, and political clients. His expertise has led to contributions on news programs such as FOX News and CBS Evening News and appearances on History Channel’s shows including Sniper: Deadliest Missions and Top Shot. He has also been involved in tactical missions against poachers in Africa, which were televised on Animal Planet. In addition to his military and media work, Sawyer is a motocross racer, a local Las Vegas champion, and was recognized by Maxim as Maximum Warrior.
