Craig John Counsell, born on August 21, 1970, is an American professional baseball manager and former infielder. He currently manages the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball and previously managed the Milwaukee Brewers, where he holds the franchise record for managerial wins and led the team to five post-season appearances and one playoff series victory. Under his leadership, the Cubs advanced to the playoffs in the 2025 season. As a player, Counsell was known for his distinctive batting stance and played 16 seasons in MLB for five teams. He was a member of the Florida Marlins team that won the 1997 World Series, batting in the tying run and scoring the winning run. Additionally, he was named the National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player in 2001 and contributed to the Arizona Diamondbacks' World Series win, being on-base during the series.
