Craig Brown was a Scottish football professional and manager known for his lengthy tenure as the Scotland national team manager, a position he held from 1993 to 2001. During his management career, Scotland qualified for the UEFA Euro 1996 and the 1998 FIFA World Cup. After retiring from management in 2013, Brown was appointed a non-executive director of Aberdeen Football Club and served as its director and ambassador. His involvement in football also included roles as the Director of Football Development and International Team Manager at the Scottish Football Association. Outside football, Brown was affiliated with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. His playing career included stints at Rangers, Dundee, and Falkirk, but it was cut short by knee injuries. Brown began his management career with Clyde in 1977 and subsequently coached various Scotland youth teams. He later managed clubs including Preston North End, Motherwell, and Aberdeen. Brown was recognized with a CBE for his contributions to football. He passed away on 26 June 2023, leaving a significant legacy within Scottish football and beyond.
