Connor Bedard, born on July 17, 2005, is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who serves as a centre and alternate captain for the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League. Recognized as one of the top prospects of his generation, he was selected first overall by the Blackhawks in the 2023 NHL entry draft and made his NHL debut that year. Bedard had a notable career in the Western Hockey League with the Regina Pats, where he was drafted first overall in 2020 under exceptional player status. During his time in the WHL, he earned several accolades including the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy as the league's top rookie in his debut season, the Bob Clarke Trophy as the leading scorer, and the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as the most valuable player in his third year. He also received national recognition by winning the Canadian Hockey League's Top Scorer and Player of the Year honors.

Internationally, Bedard has represented Canada, winning championships with the national under-18 team in 2021 and with the junior team in 2022 and 2023.
