Clark Joseph Kent, born Kal-El, is a fictional character and the main protagonist in the television series Smallville. Created in 2001 by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the character is based on the original DC Comics superhero Superman, who was first introduced by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1938. The series chronicles Clark's efforts to live as a normal human being while hiding his alien heritage and evolving superpowers.
