About Chuck Norris

Carlos Ray Norris was an American martial artist, actor, screenwriter, and author. He held black belts in karate, taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and judo. Norris served in the United States Air Force before winning numerous martial arts championships and founding his own discipline, Chun Kuk Do. He initially worked as a martial arts instructor for celebrities in the American film industry. His acting debut included a minor role in The Wrecking Crew in 1968. Follower and fellow martial artist Bruce Lee invited him to play a main villain in The Way of the Dragon in 1972. Norris was encouraged by Steve McQueen to pursue acting more seriously, which led to his starring role in the 1977 film Breaker! Breaker! His popularity increased with movies such as Good Guys Wear Black in 1978. He subsequently starred in successful independent action and martial arts films including A Force of One, The Octagon, and An Eye for an Eye, which contributed to his international fame. Norris also appeared in studio productions like Silent Rage, Forced Vengeance, and Lone Wolf McQuade. His success with Cannon Films began with the 1984 release of Missing in Action, launching a trilogy and establishing him as their leading star during the 1980s. Other notable films include Invasion U.S.A., The Delta Force, and Code of Silence. During the 1990s, Norris played the title role in the CBS series Walker, Texas Ranger, which aired until 2001.
