Christopher Mackenzie Priest was a British science fiction writer and novelist born on 14 July 1943 and who passed away on 2 February 2024. His body of work includes notable titles such as Fugue for a Darkening Island, published in 1972, and The Inverted World in 1974. Other significant works include The Space Machine (1976), The Affirmation (1981), The Glamour (1984), The Prestige (1995), and The Separation (2002). His writing was notably influenced by the science fiction of H. G. Wells. In 2006, Priest was appointed Vice-President of the international H. G. Wells Society.
