Christopher Neal Jackson, born on September 30, 1975, is an American actor and singer known for his work on stage, television, and in film. He began his career in 1995 starring in the Off-Broadway musical Time and the Wind. Jackson made his Broadway debut in 1997 as an ensemble member in the original cast of Disney's The Lion King and later took on the role of Simba. He has performed leading roles in several Broadway productions including After Midnight, Bronx Bombers, Holler If Ya Hear Me, and Memphis. He is notably recognized for originating the roles of Benny in In the Heights and George Washington in Hamilton, performances that earned him critical acclaim; for the latter he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. Jackson also contributed as a singer in the Disney film Moana, voicing Chief Tui. His film work includes secondary roles in After.Life and Tracers. On television, Jackson starred as Chunk Palmer in the CBS drama Bull from 2016 to 2022 and had recurring roles such as Perry Loftus in Oz. His guest appearances include Fringe, Gossip Girl, Nurse Jackie, The Good Wife, and White Collar. As a composer, Jackson has written music for various artists including LL Cool J, Sean Kingston, and will.i.am, and won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song for Sesame Street. He received an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from Oglethorpe University in 2018.
