Christopher Cross, born Christopher Charles Geppert on May 3, 1951, is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He achieved significant recognition with his self-titled debut album released in 1979, which earned him five Grammy Awards. Cross's hit singles include Sailing, released in 1980, and Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do), from the 1981 film Arthur. Sailing was awarded three Grammys in 1980, and Arthur's Theme secured the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1982, sharing the award with co-writers Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager, and Peter Allen.
