Christian Taylor, born June 18, 1990, is a retired American track and field athlete known for competing in the triple jump. He achieved notable success in his athletic career, including a personal record of 18.21 meters, which ranks second on the all-time list. Taylor was the champion at the 2007 World Youth Championships in Athletics, where he also earned a bronze medal in the long jump. He established himself at the University of Florida, winning consecutive NCAA Indoor titles followed by NCAA Outdoor Championship titles in 2010 and 2011. In 2011, he claimed his first USA Outdoor national title and subsequently won the triple jump at the World Championships, with a jump that was the tenth best in history at the time. Taylor represented the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics, winning a gold medal in the triple jump. He also competed at the 2013 World Championships, placed fourth in 2013, and secured world titles again in 2015, 2017, and 2019. His victories include medals at both the Olympic and World Championship levels, with his best Olympic performance coming in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 with a jump of 17.86 meters. Alongside his specialization in the triple jump, Taylor also competed in the long jump, with a personal best of 8.19 meters, and in sprinting events, recording times of 45.07 seconds in the 400 meters and 20.70 seconds in the 200 meters. In 2019, he announced the formation of The Athletics Association, an organization advocating for athlete rights and independent of the IAAF.
