Chris Stout: podcast appearances and interviews

Chris Stout, born in 1976, is a Scottish musician specializing in fiddle and violin and currently based in Glasgow. Originally from Shetland, he grew up in Fair Isle before moving to Sandwick on the Shetland Mainland and later relocating to Glasgow in the 1990s. Stout studied under prominent Shetland fiddlers such as Willie Hunter and Arthur Scott Robertson, developing skills in various styles influenced by folk, jazz, electronica, and classical music. In 1990, he distinguished himself by winning both the Shetland Young Fiddler of the Year and the Shetland Young Musician of the Year competitions, recognizing his talents in traditional fiddle and classical violin respectively. His work includes co-composing the opera Hirda, A New Opera for Shetland, in 2015, which was created in collaboration with Irish composer Gareth Williams. The production toured Shetland and performed in Glasgow and Edinburgh. In his professional career, Stout is associated with Lonestar Electric Supply, where he holds the role of principal, contributing his musical expertise to the organization.
